Finally! I've uploaded the 'Welcome Home Brother Charles' SCUM spoof trailer. I did it just for fun, but it ended up getting us invited to submit SCUM to the Toronto After Dark Film Festival! Crazy, huh? Well, there will be more on that later as now I must head off to work. As always, drop me a line at Paul@scumthemovie.com.

Hopefully having Vimeo hosting the videos will FINALLY rid the site of all bugs we've had since we started the site. We'll slowly be replacing the current videos with better quality ones as soon as I can get around to it. If you are still having problems PLEASE drop me a line at Paul@scumthemovie.com.

As we enter our final weekend, I just wanted to upload the first look at SCUM's shampoo bottling facility which is actually Beeville's very own sewer plant. The location was awesome as you'll soon see in the flick, but I just wanted to give you guys a glimpse of what to expect. Also, you'll be introduced to one of our very badass actors Fernando who originally came in to audition for a different role but didn't fit the part. BUT, he rocked so much I cast him as the only surviving shampoo facility worker. Be expecting more videos to pop up here as we wind down production and keep checking back for the new trailer which is coming soon. And as always, feel free to drop me a line at Paul@scumthemovie.com.

So, we conducted our first test screening last Friday for SCUM and I must say it was quite nerve wracking. But it'll be well worth it in the end, which is FINALLY approaching. We appreciate everyone's comments and concerns they left on their questionnaires, especially the harsh ones. It's cool to know that they were at least paying attention and hopefully care enough to be brutally truthful, which is what we wanted. No hurt feelings here. The test screening was only about 1 hour of stuff we had put together, but there's tons more stuff that needs to be cut and scored so I'll be working for the next couple of weeks finishing that up as well as shooting whatever shots we're missing. It won't be long now. I also want to thank the CORPUS CHRISTI FILM SOCIETY for holding the event, Joe for playing host and the House of Rock for allowing me to get drunk. So, here's another video of me sharing my experiences with you all. And as always, feel free to drop me a line at Paul@scumthemovie.com.

Most people may find this surprising, but I'm not a fan of Halloween. I enjoyed it a bit when I was a kid, but at the age of about 10, it no longer thrilled me. What did was horror movies. Why dress up and ask for candy one day out of the year when you could pop in your VHS copy of Nightmare on Elm Street and trick or treat whenever you wanted? But I enjoy people enjoying Halloween and indulging in the chance to be someone else for a day and let there hair down...some figuratively, some literally. So, with that intro, I'll be out and about on Halloween, mostly at Star Video, screening some clips and new trailers as well as some old short flicks and what not. There will also be some classic horror flicks screened that night for the young and old so make sure to hang out and chat with me and whatever actors I can wrangle up. And as an added bonus, I have posted one of the TV spots we'll be screening Halloween night here on the site! So enjoy and make sure to head on out to Star Video this Friday and be one of the first to witness the exclusive clips! And as always, feel free to drop me a line at Paul@scumthemovie.com.

Do you wanna see some SCUM this weekend? If your in Beeville, head on over to St. Philip's Episcopal Church and catch 2, count'em 2, early scenes of SCUM! For the first time EVER you can witness the SCUM before anyone else! How cool is that?!?! But...if you can't make it out this Saturday, don't worry. We'll be screening the same shite on October 31st @ STAR VIDEO!!! We'll be screening old school horror flicks as well as some short films and the same clips of SCUM plus some featurettes! I'll be on hand (as well as most of the actors) to answer any and all questions both nights! So hope to see all of you there and as always, feel free to drop me a line at Paul@scumthemovie.com.

This weekend CINEmachina Studios will be promoting SCUM at San Antonio's Horrific Film Festival which starts tonight, Thursday August 28, and lasts thru August 31st. Tonight will be the annual zombie walk as well as the movie trailer party which SCUM has entered. Even though SCUM won't be screening at the festival, we'd love to see some of you guys stop on by and say "Hi". I'll be there along with the movie's main actor Brandon Maldonado who plays Charles Sharpe. We may even have a few other special guests stop by. A few weeks back we released the official Spanish language poster on our Myspace, so now I would like to unveil the Official Theatrical SCUM Poster here...along with the Spanish language one. I hope you enjoy the posters and as always, feel free to drop me a line at Paul@scumthemovie.com.

Here's the trailer. You wanted it and now you've got it. If you click here you'll find a slightly different version over at YouTube. It's not really THAT different, but whatever. The trailer premiered this past weekend at 2 screenings that The Beeville Film Society and The Horror Society of the Coastal Bend put together for the indie horror flick The House of the Demon. I would like to thank Rob Garrett from our local country station Kicker 106 FM for doing the AWESOME voice over for the trailer. Any one interested in getting him to do the same, contact him here. He rocks with voices. The production is wrapping up and the movie's coming along quite nicely so it won't be long folks before you can get scummed! I hope you enjoy the trailer and as always, feel free to drop me a line at Paul@scumthemovie.com.

I know it's been a while since I last updated this site but I've been busy. Last night team SCUM spent a few hours blowing up heads for the flick, and I must say it looked pretty damn good. You wanna see exploding heads? Then head over to one of the screenings The Beeville Film Society and The Horror Society of the Coastal Bend will be hosting this weekend for The House of the Demon and you can watch the world premier of the official SCUM trailer which will be played before each screening. This Friday July 18th our screening will be held at The Indie Theater in Corpus Christi at 7pm. The director George L. Ortiz will be on hand as well as the 'Demon' Brant Bumpers to answer any and all horror/filmmaking/acting questions. Then on Sunday July 20th, they'll be heading to my home town of Beeville to do the same at Star Video at 8pm. Head on out for a weekend of independent horror and hang out with us fine film folk! Oh yeah, here's a promo video made in anticipation of the official trailer. Enjoy. And as always, feel free to drop me a line at Paul@scumthemovie.com.

Another video! This is some of the latest stuff we've shot just trying to finish up a scene in the movie. It is the third day out at this location, so maybe one day I'll put up the first two...maybe. Anyway, we posted some more pics earlier in the week and there's more waiting to be posted on my desktop at home. We're tearing through production and getting closer to the end, so it won't be long now! And as always, feel free to drop me a line at Paul@scumthemovie.com.

The pictures are finally up! Not all of them, but hey, I've gotta start somewhere. The site has been updated with 3 sets of pics from various stages of production so click away. Be on the look out for more updates later in the week as well as videos, more pics and as always, feel free to drop me a line at Paul@scumthemovie.com.

5.9.2008
Well, looks like we've got a new video! This one is actually an up-to-date update because it was shot earlier in the week while we were prepping a location for our shoot tonight. It has been a long, but very productive, week and all my actors are excited and ready to go, so it should be fun. This is also the first time Sundip has appeared in the videos, too. He's a filmmaker living here that offers his services when he's not in production himself.

In different news, I've gotten a hold of fellow filmmaker George L. Ortiz from San Antonio about The Horror Society of the Coastal Bend and myself putting together a screening of his horror flick The House of the Demon somewhere in the Corpus Christi area. We're ironing out the details so look for an announcement in the following weeks. If you love indie horror as much as I do, keep checking back for updates. Save Yourself!

4.18.2008

Hello all! First off, this Saturday I'll be doing the KEYS WEEKEND MAGAZINE radio show at around 11am so make sure to tune in for that. Joe's a great guy that does the show and runs (or is?) the CORPUS CHRISTI FILM SOCIETY that I'll be working with in the coming months. The show starts at 9am so tune in early and check out his musical guests and all the other cool stuff he's got going on. Movie hour starts at 11am. And thanks to the actor Justin Meeks for coming out last night to chat
.

As you can see I posted a few pics. I wanted some sort of Flash picture player thingy- but all you get for now is plain ol' links. And the video, which is the first footage (raw or otherwise) ever shown to the public via THE DOMINGO! SHOW a few months back, has been circulating around YOUTUBE for a while but I felt deserved posting here. And I decided to toss in some ALL NEW NEVER BEFORE RELEASED PICTURES!!! Enjoy, and remember...VIVA SEED!

I appreciate all the kind words I received about the last news post and to answer a few e-mails, I was laughing in the first picture. I was laughing in pain. Anyway, here we have a new video that's actually old. It's a video of the first day of filming...kind of. It's actually the second first day as the title states. Here's the explanation: Sharpe was being played by someone else when the cameras began rolling. The actor, who shall remain nameless, enrolled in to college a few hours away and we didn't have room in our budget for such luxuries as gas or plane tickets. So we went with someone a little closer to home base and once again began at the beginning. He was a good actor and would have brought a lot to the project but these things happen. I have no regrets. Brandon is a fine young lad and was actually my first choice for the role. More on that later.

The movie's coming along nicely and we're taking the weekend off to pump up our schedule so we can march forth and get this thing finished ASAP. Oh, and for those curious ones, we're looking for an end of summer/early fall premier in our hometown of Beeville, TX as well as a few other cities and states all the while submitting it to the proper film festivals and circuits. Speaking of film festivals, I'd like to wish a couple of fellow Texas filmmakers good luck on their trip to the Tribeca Film Festival at the end of the month with their flick 'The Wild Man of the Navidad'. Check out their site if you get a chance. Well, that's about it. Enjoy the video and feel free to hit me up anytime at Paul@scumthemovie.com
. Thanks to Catatude for fancy camera work. Break dance!

The movie keeps rolling. You'll get a new video soon, but for now I thought I'd share some pics of when I was sent to the Emergency Room a few weeks ago. You see, making a movie can be pretty stressful and I've always thought of myself as a pretty easy going guy, not really ever stressing over anything. Ever. But sometimes you need to jump in the pot to see how you boil. (?) So stress finally got to me one night out of nowhere as large amounts of pain shot up my back, my stomach transformed in to a huge ball of pain and my lungs squeezed tight allowing only shallow breaths. I just laid there on the table in the ER writhing in pain trying to breath. If it sounds bad, it was 20x worse. But after all was said and done I went home with numb @$$ cheeks, a light head and a $75 bill. Even though my back's never been the same since, I lived to tell the tale and continue SCUM. Just thought I'd share that little story with you all. No sympathy, please. Just try and not shed a tear over the photos below. Viva Nostromo.

Ah, yes good Friday. So good in fact that we've got a new video for you guys! What you'll get in this one is an introduction to our female lead Keleigh Kremers who plays Jill in the movie. We went to the ARC Photos studio in Beeville, TX to take candid shots of Keleigh and Tiffany, who plays her best friend Stacey. The pics will be used as set dressing and will be placed randomly throughout the movie on shelves, mantles, walls and maybe even under pillows. Maybe. Stay tuned for more updates and videos as well as the pictures I keep promising. Oh, I figured I would clear up how to pronounce our male lead's name, Sharpe. It's not "Sharpie" as everyone seems to think it is, it's "Sharp"...but spelled "Sharpe" with an 'e'. Just though I'd clear that up. Enjoy soy products!

3.10.2008

So, this past Saturday (March 8th) Brandon, Tiffany and I attended a screening of Night of the Living Dead, the 1990's version directed by the one and only Tom Savini. When I had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Savini a few years back the one thing he said was not to ask him questions about the NOTLD remake because he was tired of getting flack for the film. WHAT?! I love both versions and they are equally #1 on my list of favorite zombie movies of all time. You see, when I caught NOTLD for the first time on cable when I was a wee lad, it changed me. It made me want to make a zombie flick...well, just make movies actually and that's why I'm here writing this and your here reading this. I can't even express how happy I was on Saturday when, after I spent the whole night fearing that what I was about to watch was a projected DVD copy of a movie I had sitting on my shelf at home, the old blurry Columbia logo popped up in all it's hazy, scratched glory. I sat back and enjoyed the cinematic horror ride. The movie seemed new again. Tony Todd, Bill Moseley, and the very delectable Patricia Tallman. I never thought I'd ever see the flick in theaters. Anyway, I'm writing this to thank the Corpus Christi Film Society, Captain Skippy (whoever you are!), the USS Joan of Arc, both the Star Trek Club & Science Fiction Club and everyone else who put the whole shebang together. It was a lot of fun and that little kid dressed up as a zombie just rocked. I'm not even upset that only one person recognized me and my crew in our SCUM t-shirts. I'll forgive you all this time. Thanks again and see you at the next one.

We threw this test together Friday night and it went really fast and not so bad. We had a table covered in a vinyl tablecloth and decided to just use that instead of finding a board or whatever. I bought a whole roll of the vinyl stuff exclusively for green screening at a party store for, like, 5 bucks. The screen was WAY too close, causing green to be reflected on the subjects and car but we really couldn't scoot it back anymore, so we were stuck. Anyway, we got what we wanted and will be setting up a green screen studio big enough to drive a car in to in the next few weeks. Take care peeps.

This is the first behind the scenes stuff we've been able to post, not to mention the latest stuff we've shot so be expecting some later stuff to be posted as well. The pictures are coming, too so keep checking back as the site keeps on getting updated and more stuff finds it's way here. So this is the SCUM site. There's not much here yet, but I'll be updating it as soon as I can. I just wanted to put something here so when you fine folks stopped by there was something to look at. SCUMTHEMOVIE.com is where we'll be posting most of the exclusive stuff, so feel free to bookmark this page and check back daily for all kinds of cool shite and don't forget to check out our MYSPACE page and add us because that's where we'll most likely be announcing any and all updates that'll be popping up on here. Well, that's all I have so far, but some videos are coming as well as pics, thoughts, maybe a contest or two and stories from the set. Here's an exclusive pic. Thanks. -P!
